It's also not going to fix this problem for all the other Mac apps out there.Īnyway, the problem is that AppKit prefers HTML to plain text when pasting into a rich text field. Since VS Code is popular we'll probably do that, but it's a less than perfect workaround, since it changes a few other behaviors, which we'll have to find some additional workarounds for. ![]() Manullay Select and copy the content of the Dashed textarea below. If I change the text field type to richText = NO, then pasting works correctly. If the first method does not work for you, try this method. It happens with every app that uses a standard Cocoa NSTextField configured for rich text. Delete non-breaking spaces ( ) Click the Trim button. Choose one or several options: Remove leading and trailing spaces. Click the Trim Spaces button on the Ablebits Data tab. If people copy-paste text from VS Code to Mail, they'll end up with the wrong type of spaces. Select the cells (range, entire column or row) where you want to delete extra spaces. Hope this helps you narrow down the problem. This could be a bug in Postico (as you said above) but I just tried to copy html from safari and paste it in Postico and no nbsp appeared. To reproduce: copy some code from Visual Studio Code paste it in Postico (I had the same problem with other editors, may be Xcode itself, but this is what I'm using now) copy from Postico paste in a file (or in textmate) read the file with an hex-editor to find the nbsp characters. OK, those are just underscore characters which should be supported in all fonts. This breaks some program, while others seems to convert to spaces (textmate). Most likely the character is being inserted by your HTML Editor. ![]() It is essentially a standard space, the primary difference being that a browser should not break (or wrap) a line of text at the point that this occupies. You can select and copy it: Sub extracttextafterspace () Dim rng As Range. is the entity used to represent a non-breaking space. Here, I can copy and paste without losing the space character following the last underscore: In the screen shot, I have nonprinting marks displayed each dot represents a space character (and each ¶ represents a paragraph mark). Another way to quickly extract text after space character is by using a simple VBA code. OK, those are just underscore characters which should be supported in all fonts. I was able to track back that in the pasted clipboard spaces in code are substituted by the sequence c2a0 (that's utf-8 for the non-breaking space character). Method 2: Using VBA to Extract Text after Space Character in Excel. I had the same problem of pasting code from Code behaving strangely in other programs.
